YELP US MAKE A MOVIE
Client: Yelp
CW: Kayla Baken // AD: Chelney Cameron
Yelp has always satisfied your food cravings. Now we’re feeding Hollywood’s appetite for new IP.
The brand was once a linchpin in our cultural zeitgeist but it’s relevance has faded. So we’ll restore it by turning a single Yelp review into a movie. Because Yelpers don’t just write reviews, they author stories.
ACT ONE
Announce to Yelpers worldwide that we’re turning a single Yelp review into a movie. But we need their help picking which one.
MICROSITE
OOH ads feature QR codes linked to a campaign microsite where fans can vote for their favorite review. The more unhinged, the better.
ACT TWO
Release the winning review and build momentum with news-generating announcements to reveal the director and top-billing cast.

Amid Hollywood IP Frenzy, New Campaign Asks, ‘Why Not a Yelp Review?’
Yelp Lands Ari Aster to Direct Experimental Horror Based on Texas Bar Review
Greta Lee and Christopher Abbot to Star in Ari Aster’s ‘The Devil is a Bar in Texas’
ACT THREE
Debut the movie with a premiere party at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in LA.
And because it’s a Yelp event, attendees will be able to review the movie…
…and a vendor village of food tents from local LA restaurants.
Attendees get fed, businesses get exposure, Yelp gets user traffic.
